Senior Product Development Engineer

Position Overview
The Senior Product Development Engineer will lead the development of new products and improvements to existing ones. You will leverage your comprehensive product development expertise to design solutions that are manufacturable, cost-effective, and of the highest quality. This role requires strong cross-functional communication skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality assurance, thorough documentation, and the ability to mentor and lead teams with minimal training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Product Development:
    • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from concept to production.
    • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of design and production requirements.
  • Manufacturability & Process Knowledge:
    • Evaluate design feasibility and optimize products for manufacturability.
    • Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify and resolve production challenges early in the design process.
  • Quality Assurance & Documentation:
    • Establish and maintain robust quality control processes.
    • Create and update detailed documentation for design specifications, production processes, and quality standards.
  • Cross-Functional Communication:
    • Serve as the liaison between engineering, manufacturing, customers, and suppliers.
    • Clearly communicate technical information and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Lead and mentor junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
    • Provide guidance and training to ensure team proficiency and professional growth with minimal onboarding.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in designing products that are optimized for manufacturability and process efficiency.
  • Strong background in quality assurance practices and documentation standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience interfacing with customers and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to drive projects forward independently.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools and software used in product design and manufacturing.
