Associate Attorney - Environmental

Salary: $170,000 - $190,000

Position Overview
The Associate Attorney - Environmental will support the legal team in providing expert legal counsel on environmental issues, including compliance with regulations, litigation, and policy analysis. The successful candidate will assist in advocating for clients' interests while ensuring adherence to environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents related to environmental law cases.
  • Assist in compliance matters by advising clients on regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Support litigation efforts by drafting pleadings, motions, and other necessary documents.
  • Engage in regulatory affairs by interacting with governmental agencies on behalf of clients.
  • Analyze policies and regulations impacting clients' operations in the environmental sector.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts relevant to land use and natural resources management.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify legal vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance on land use issues and environmental permits.
  • Draft legal opinions and memoranda on administrative law matters involving environmental issues.
  • Advocate for clients in administrative hearings and other legal proceedings.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental law or a related field preferred.
  • Strong skills in legal research and writing.
  • Experience in compliance and regulatory affairs.
  • Familiarity with litigation processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of land use and natural resources law.
  • Understanding of administrative law and advocacy techniques.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal and policy issues.
