Extensive travel throughout the United States and Canada is part of the job. 2-3 weeks a month on the road.
My client is a leading supplier of technologically advanced industrial heating and process fire protection systems seeks Electro-Mechanical technician to provide field service on installed systems located principally in North America. Our proprietary products include advanced fired thermal fluid heaters/(boilers), burners, and equipment fire protection systems. We are a small, energetic, and highly efficient company looking to grow using our proprietary technologies and excellent client services, and thus provide opportunity for professional growth.
Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of the technician is to perform scheduled service inspections of installed systems, perform start-up & commissioning of newly installed systems, and to provide installation assistance and supervision on projects when necessary. The technician will be required to provide training to plant personnel concerning the proper operation and maintenance of installed systems.
The service technician will also be responsible for managing aftermarket spare parts sales to clients, as well as inventory management of stocked parts for standard equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform and manage field service activities
- Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment in the field
- Communicate with customers verbally and in writing
- Prepare internal trip reports and complete work orders
- Accept sales orders for equipment
- Maintain equipment inventory and inventory records as necessary
- Submit weekly timesheets and necessary expense reports
- Assist in preparing technical documentation and/or drawings for customers
- Receive, prepare, pack, and ship equipment to customers
- Assist with parts management duties when needed
- Make occasional sales calls and plant site visits to collect information at the direction of Management
- Be available for special assignments deemed necessary by Management
- Be available to travel frequently and on very short notice
- Be able and willing to work under adverse conditions (difficult customers, bad weather, travel inconveniences etc.)
- Always represent the company well by maintaining a high level of professionalism and personal conduct
- Keep all work places organized and safe
- Support and develop service programs
- Promote spare parts sales
- Develop and submit spare part quotes
- Process customer orders and RFQ requests
- Process spare parts orders (Quotes, Purchase Orders )
- Update and maintain recommended spare parts lists
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)
- Relevant associates or technical degree or 5 years minimum relevant experience.
- Ability to read electrical and layout drawings.
- General knowledge of electrical wiring and signaling systems.
- Good mechanical knowledge and skills particularly pertaining to piping and low components
- Analysis and troubleshooting ability
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office/365 products
- Ability to work effectively and interact with all levels of staff and departments throughout the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good driving record necessary
- Valid Travel Documents to be able to cross into Canada
- Knowledge of electronic controllers, such as temperature, flow, etc. controllers
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
